Gourmet, Every Day…
At Oakmont of Mariner Point, it is easy to become a little spoiled when it comes to fine dining. Our executive chef and staff of culinary professionals make every meal an experience. Not only has our culinary staff been hand-selected from some of the finest culinary schools and fine dining facilities, they have also undergone the extensive training Oakmont Senior Living has become known for.
It is this training that takes professionals who specialize in quality of service and ensures that they can accommodate any special needs that may come up due to dietary restrictions or health concerns. Since our fine dining must be experienced firsthand, we would like to invite you to have a meal with us, on us.

Meet Executive Chef Christian Hermsdorf.
Chef Christian comes to Oakmont Mariner Square with over twenty years of experience in the culinary field here in the Bay Area. His passion for cooking began at his grandmother’s apron strings in Germany and evolved when he moved to bountiful California. After studying at the University of California, Berkeley, an opportunity to help at a friend’s restaurant led to an apprenticeship and began years of learning.
The road through different cuisines began with New American/Californian at Avenue Nine in San Francisco under Jeff Rosen. Jumping across the Bay, he next learned the basics of French cooking with Chris Rossi at Citron restaurant in Oakland. This led to San Francisco’s Bar Bambino where he learned the art of “slow food” with Chef Elizabeth Binder and rose to the position of Chef de Cuisine. It was here he fell in love with the simplicity and technique of Italian cuisine. Following this path led to opening Cupola Pizzeria in the Westfield Center, an Italian restaurant from the Lark Creek Group, featuring Neapolitan styled pizza from a wood-fired oven. This garnered a positive review from the San Francisco Chronicle for his “approachable and authentic” food.
Chef Christian joined Oakmont’s award-winning culinary team in March of last year at Cardinal Point in Alameda with the vision of providing a culinary experience that will both delight and nurture residents’ mental and physical health. “I hope to share my love for food in order to make dining the highlight of your day” he says.
